## Math Lessons - Mathematics Courses Online

Online math courses can be a wonderful assistant for an elementary or high school teacher. As a teacher, you know how hard it is to get your students to understand the basic concepts of mathematics. When kids get bored they tune out and then it becomes very difficult to get through to them. Other students are too timid to participate in classroom math activities for fear that they make a mistake or are ridiculed by their peers. In addition, if you have a few disruptive students in the class the situation can get out of control in a hurry.

You may be lucky enough to be in a school that employs remedial math teachers or at least has some kind of tutoring program or teaching assistance. However, this may not be the case, especially with all the government cutbacks. You may find that you are alone to teach the class, try to give extra help to remedial students, and control the class clowns. Even the most experienced teachers can return turn home in the evening with a splitting headache.

One way to give you the help you need is to have your students do some online math courses. If your school already has a computer center then half the battle is won. You are fortunate if the school already has access to online math courses. If not, you may need to ask the principal or make a proposal to the school district for such a program. Remember to include in your proposal, the fact that the programs could help teachers in every grade level. The online math courses programs will also help students learn at their own pace and can be used as either a regular classroom aid, extra homework, or extra practice for students who need to catch up.

Another way to get online math courses for your school is to enlist the help of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), or the Home and School Association.

The PTA and the Home and School Association are very good in soliciting funds. They may host fundraisers such as bake sales, car washes, school pageants or illicit donations directly from parents. Many parents would be willing to donate a small amount to sponsor a program that would help teachers educate their children.

Another area that may be useful is community networking. Just as big businesses provide scholarships for college students, they may have a budget for community services or an education to financially support school projects. Again, the PTA and the Home and School Association may be able to find the businesses, which would be in a position to help.

Finally, do not overlook the free online math courses, which could complement the school curriculum. You will need to make sure they follow the state's standards for math teaching.

Online math courses could be the perfect virtual assistant and with some ingenuity and help from school and PTA and Home and School Association you these online math courses can help free up time for you to help the students who otherwise would not have the chance.
