## Math and Fractions - Math's Relation to Fractions

Math's relationship with fractions is something that is with every student for all of their lives. The two are commonly interchangeable depending upon the given situation at hand. Math is the deductive reasoning through whole numbers while mixing them in a multitude of conjured figures to reach a resulting response. This is commonly attachable through the process of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. This is a very simple mathematical procedure that occurs millions of times over and over each and every day by millions of students in the worldwide setting.

Mathematical equations are also in the form of fractions to utilize the same procedures in a more uniform method. Fractions follow the same basic rules of mathematics in that they too are to define and reach conclusions through the art of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. The main difference as the name implies is that the student dealing with parts of numbers instead of using whole numbers. The student can relate the methods utilized with fractions to a ruler. When the student looks at a ruler the student will see large lines and a multitude of smaller lines all in a neat row. This is representative of what fractions are. They are all small parts of the whole.

Mankind everywhere utilizes fractions and for a multitude of reasons will resort to mathematics through the use of fractions to solve many every day difficulties. What is interesting is the fact that fractions are also useable to define the weight of an object. Therefore fractions in conjunction with mathematics often work hand in hand to achieve the end result. Math's relationship with fractions is such an interesting subject. The teachers input are most valuable. This is something that goes back and forth so many times in a day that most students fail to recognize it.

Many of the mathematical equations with the assistance of fractions afford the possibility to reach a satisfactory response with little effort. Without the use of interchangeable fractions mathematical equations have a tendency to run on and on and it will take forever to reach a conclusion. The student is inclined to view fractions as a mathematical short cut to the end means. It is better for students to save a few steps.
