Adult school credits don't equal 100 level college credits

Rose Said:

Adult high school diploma and the military.?

We Answered:

It looks like your recruiter needs to become familiar witht he regulations. To the military a 'High School Diploma' means that you either graduated from a regular high school of from one of the few alternative circuliculms accepted by the military.

In effect if you dropped out of high school and later got a certificate or diploma from any 'adult school' program - you have a GED.

And the only thing you can do to become the equalivalent of a high school graduate in the eyes of the military is to attend a local community college and earn 15 'college level' credits.

Jeanette Said:

will the us navy(sailors) accept adult high school diploma?

We Answered:

generally speaking NO they do not.

The Recruiter has a current list of all programs nationwide and categorizes them by Tier. Anything Tier 2 and above, they DO NOT accept for intial entry.

Only Tier Ones. which is basically.. a regular High school diploma earned over a 4 year span of time IN THE CLASSROOM.

if you have a Tier 2 or above education, you must also have 15 100 level college credits before you are eligible to try and enlist.
