Single Case Study

Natalie Said:

How can Geologists tell it was only a single meteor impact by the sediment under the Atlantic ocean?

We Answered:

They can because of the sediment pattern, if their were multiple impacts the dust that eventually formed that sediment rock would have formed different layers like rings in a tree. Since the dust shows one single thick layer that occured approximately 65 million years ago they theorize that is what did it that and of course radio-carbon dating.

Priscilla Said:

I'm doing a research project and I need to find "single subject" case studies and I'm not finding

We Answered:

What's the subject? If it's psychology, check out the book "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" by Oliver Sacks. It's a collection of case studies about people with different types of brain damage.

Tyrone Said:

Social sciences question, case study. Help please?

We Answered:

Renter's insurance is always a plus. If she is starting from nothing though, she should make some friends, to start. She could take out a loan to get security and first months rent on a new apartment. She could also ask her old landlord for compensation if it wasn't her fault. Shelters can be helpful, but you can also catch TB and get caught up with the crack crowd (they steal your stuff, try to make money using your children, etc...) I'm sure any good church would put them up for a few nights. Main thing is to only spend on necessities.

Gail Said:

The single-subject study has ______ internal validity and ______ external validity compared to the case study?

We Answered:

I would say D--

A single subject design tends to have more internal validity because often single subject designs include more than one person as it turns out! The other people act as their own controls.

A single subject study would have the same amount of external validity as the case study because they are only studying a specific type of person-- the findings really cannot be extended to the pubic for generalization.

This is my best guess-- I'm a 5th year psych major and I have a 4.0 GPA so it may not be a bad guess--

I hope this at least points you in the right direction :o)
